Not one to rest on her laurels (in between recording
and promoting her debut album, she's been busy
filming the new Herbie The Love Bug movie for
Disney), Lohan has already dropped her second
single, "Over."
With the song impacting the charts, now comes the
visual compliment in the form of the "Over" video.
The song, which begins with a melancholy riff not
unlike the signature sound of a recognizable Cure
track, is rife with mournful acoustic guitar and
haunting piano-tuned synth. Of course, not being a
Robert Smith-penned tune, it quickly morphs into a
slow rocker in which Lohan laments that she "can't
live without you" thus solidifying the love torn
subject matter.
The video, which was directed by Jake Nava and shot
in Los Angeles, seems to follow suit, showcasing
Lohan strolling down an idylic suburban street, wind
blowing leaves around her lithe frame as she gazes
into a neighboring house's window to see her lover
being yelled at by his father. She quickly turns
away, crossing the entry gate of her Cleaver-esque
abode and walking through the front door and
upstairs to her room, where she begins to undress
(okay, she takes off her sweater to expose a slinky
tank top) before turning to her window to gaze out
into the window of the boy next door's room. All of
this innocent love imagery is intercut with shots of
Lohan and her band cranking away in a garage like
rowdy rock stars. Toss in crazy backyard pool party
escapades, steamy make-out scenes, and burning
rubber in a classic Mustang footage and you've got a
somewhat cliched, but nonetheless hit-worthy video
montage.
